Swatch & Review: Rich & Famous by China Glaze

Our Word of the Shay today is HOPE. Hope for awareness, hope for a cure, hope for life. It’s in keeping with that spirit that I introduce you to China Glaze Nail Lacquer in Rich & Famous, a part of their Rainbow of Hope Collection.

This inspiring collection contains 20 shades, each one corresponding with the awareness color of a different form of cancer. 18% of the proceeds from these polishes goes to various cancer research charities to help find a cure.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, both men and women around the globe can show their support by donning a pink ribbon. So on my trip to Sally Beauty Supply this weekend, I thought it was the prefect time to purchase Rich & Famous, a pink shade chosen to represent breast cancer in the Rainbow of Hope.

This polish is the perfect barbie pink! It's a medium bright pink (creme finish) and in some lights has just the slightest hint of purple tone in there (most noticeable in the “no flash” photo below). This is NOT your average pink polish, but something with a little more personality and dare I say "OOMPH!". The formula was great, easy to apply, streak-free, and opaque in two coats. I also used China Glaze Calcium Gel Fortifier as my basecoat, and Seche Vite topcoat.

I think this color would look particularly stunning on those with a darker skin tone, but fair gals like me certainly shouldn't shy away from it either! If this pink isn't for you, I'd suggest taking a look at the rest of the Rainbow of Hope Collection, it has something for everyone, many colors and finishes, and it's for a good cause!
